Asbestos Exposure

Exposure to asbestos is something that can happen without you knowing anything about it. Asbestos is crushed into a fine powder that can easily become airborne. Basically what this means is that it can easily be inhaled and swallowed. This in turn will then cause tumors to form around your lungs and sometimes even in your abdominal region. They can be deadly and need to be treated as soon as possible.

Symptoms

Mesothelioma asbestos lung cancer can have some symptoms that are very similar to several other diseases. The most common side effects to this disease include shortness of breath, chronic cough and chest pain. These are signs that you will need to get checked out immediately.

How it Happens

Asbestos was used between the 1920s until the 1980s. There are several different types of people that could have come into contact with this chemical. Navy veterans are some of the most common as they worked with products containing asbestos often. Mechanics, plumbers, electricians and people that worked with sheet metal, in ship yards and factories.

Even the families of these people were put at risk as they would often come home with the asbestos on their clothing. People that work in construction also are at risk, even now, with buildings being torn down or worked on that contain asbestos.
